While it is possible to explore the music history of Memphis and Nashville on self guided tours, there is a new option in Nashville. For, there is now a guided Music Row Walking Tour. The main difference between a guided and self-guided experience is often a guide who provides a historic narrative about different stops along the route.

As Nashville's culture and history is a long and varied one, this new guided experience takes visitors through the heart of the industry which has defined the city. Other tours include the National Trust for Historic Preservation along with Historic Tours of America's Town Trolley Cars and others provided by private entities. All of these, and other tours can be found in guides such as "Let's Go USA, " and other travel guides.

Still, the walk through the row is often a favorite among visitors to the area. For, Nashville would not be Nashville without the many musicians and fans whom shaped and still are shaping the city. As a result, the guided walks which focus on a number of different musicians and neighborhoods at different times in history are quite popular.

The journey continues with spots which inspired country artists old and new. For example, in the 1980s, country music started making a comeback with radio stations playing old and new chart toppers such as Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette in an era that combined classic and progressive country artists on a regular basis.

Guides often provide a behind the scenes narrative with regards to promotion, song writing and recording. After which, guests can visit a number of management offices and recording studios. Some of the most well known artists on the Nashville music scene still record at a number of the studios on a regular basis.

Most guides also take individuals on a walk through areas which house current and past musicians. In doing so, those on the tour will see that the area truly is the heartbeat of country music in Nashville. For, most businesses related to performing, publishing, producing and distributing albums, CDs and DVDs are located in the area.

While many of the publishing houses and recording studios can be accessed on self-guided walks, most are by appointment with some charging a small admission fee or requested donation. As such, not only can the guided tour save time and money, it is often far more interesting to here the history of each location when visiting. In addition, while on a guided tour, one can also learn a lot about the city which may or may not available when it comes to other tours.

The guided walks occurs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 10 a. M. And 1 p. M. While there are also evening tours in the Summer, it is important to contact the provider to assure tours are happening and on what dates and times as these can often change from year to year. In most cases, tickets will run between $39 and $50 dollars and can be purchased from tour operators which often line Music Row.
