Whether living on, or visiting the East or West Coast, there are a number of options when it comes to exploring the ocean. While the Atlantic offers some of the deep sea fishing expeditions, the West offers more in the way of Island adventures and Whale Watching Catalina Island.

Whether cruising the Atlantic to participate in deep sea fishing or the Pacific on the hopes of seeing majestic sea creatures, both have a lot to offer. When it comes to the West coast, taking a cruise to Catalina Island for a two hour stay while whale watching aboard the cruise makes for a nice escape from everyday life. For, this trip offers a two-hour stay on the island along with the opportunity to see a great deal of sea and wildlife.

As with most layovers, the captain will provide a pick-up time for a return to Newport. It is important that guests arrive back at the dock early or on-time as the vessel will not wait for late comers. If and when missing a return trip, there is a Catalina Flyer which can be called for a return to Newport.

The return trip is where most of the whale watching and wildlife viewing takes place. For example, there are often migrating Grey whales and occasional sightings of large Orcas on the return to Newport. Whereas, one of the main focus of the initial departure is the trip to Catalina Island. In either case, it is not uncommon to see majestic bald eagles and other shore birds catching fish along the shoreline.

Once the vessel returns to home port on the mainland of Southern California, it can often be a great opportunity to explore one of the many harbor side restaurants and watch the sun set over the harbor. In addition, there are a number of docks which allow for a nice stroll either after or before dinner. For, there is nothing quite like a nice stroll, a lovely dinner and watching a beautiful sunset after a day of whale watching and sight seeing.

When it comes to pricing, the price often ranges between $50 and $100 depending on discounts. While food and beverages are available aboard the cruise, it should be noted that these are not included in the ticket price. As such, it can often be more economical to bring a bag lunch, or plan on having a nicer lunch on the island for about the same cost as a sandwich and chips in the snack bar.

Different types of seating is available on board at no additional cost. For example, there is a lovely sundeck which seats approximately 30 individuals along with indoor seating on different levels. In most cases, guests prefer to sit on the sundeck or stand close to the railing in order to experience the most optimum aspect for viewing sea and wildlife while on board.

It should noted that Two Harbors can not be responsible if those attending a cruise miss departure from Newport Harbor or pick up at Catalina. As such, anyone requiring a return is responsible for the cost of the return trip. Whereas, it should also be noted that there can often be additional charges such as tax, fees and fuel charges in addition to the cost of tickets.
